Why do people hate dbz

Lots of memes come from it and lots of macros are made from screencaps. I actually like DBZ and I think the abridged version is hilarious. I really don't know. I guess some people aren't used to watching Dragon Ball Z.

It really is a mystery to me, but there will always be that one thing that someone hates. Ah, okay. I understand where you're coming from.

Sorry if I seemed like a jerk or something, I just assumed that you did have some knowledge of the series, which was wrong of me. Well, there is Dragon Ball Z Kai, which gets rid of most of the filler and helps things move at a much faster pace.

Maybe give that a go? It's hated just about as much as every popular anime there is. If it's popular than it's guaranteed to have a hatedom. Just enjoy it, and don't worry about the "haters. I liked the original Dragon Ball a bit.

Have you seen how much of a cash-whore DBZ is? Yeah, almost every show starts out aiming to make money, but there is almost no stopping point for DBZ. There's too much added on story. A lot of series accomplish more in a season or two than what DBZ has in it's boatload of seasons, which kind of just makes it pointless.

The reason for the endless padding was because the anime was being made along side the manga. In order to not get ahead of the manga, they added filler and a bunch of drawn out scenes. The original DBZ took forever to actually finish a fight, and a lot of the filler episodes were just that. Filler, and not very good filler more often than not. From what I've seen of Kai, it's pretty decent, and has better pacing, which always helps. I dunno its kinda more focused around action and fighting then a very deep story i guess, which people don't like, atleast thats the reason I hear.

I myself haven't watched much, so I'm not really in room to judge it. I personally like what I've seen though. I have also read the original manga which isn't bad. It gets to the point faster and doesn't have the filler episode and long dialogs an long transformations. If its about the manga then it's an okay manga, but if that genre isn't for you then neither is this. Thus there were mixed views about it and there were haters and there were people who loved it.

I will say that the DBZ Abridged series put out by Team Four Star is extremely hilarious, and manages to stay reasonably true to the story, while condensing it down even further than Kai did.

The only negative is the fact that we have to wait a month for a new episode, but considering the quality, it's worth the wait. Really, it's just something you have to get used to. Anime fans tend to look down on anime primarily aimed at kids, and a lot of people are turned off by DBZ's abysmal pacing even though they could just watch Kai or read the manga, but whatever. And enjoyable fights is a definition of dumb fun, watching some guys shoot lasers and punch each other with 0 intelligence in writing is the meaning of dumb fun. Are there any other animes where you think the fanbase has deminised the quality of the show BBCode.

The fights are boring and there is nothing but fights BBCode. That's like going to watch Haikyuu and hating that it is about volleyball. And the show does have training arcs and more slice of life moments within it. Also the being of the Namek saga and the middle of the cell saga was more like a cat and mouse chase game BBCode. Are there any other animes where you think the fanbase has deminised the quality of the show My Hero Academia and on a more personal level the evangelists of the gospel of Attack on Titan.

I live in constant dread of what the Chainsaw Man anime fanbase will look like. Nope, I don't wanna hear it. These are good, those are bad and they're going to fight. BBCode O grant me the mercy of the land!

But also I don't think kids being able to enjoy the show should take anything away from the quality of the show dbz u got goku reving mass killers and in db u got goku slaughtering an entire army. Theo Offline Joined: Jun Posts: Yep, that true. People who hate volleyball will have a bad time with Haikyuu. I'm not saying DBZ isn't allowed to have martial arts, I just don't like the show because of it, end of story. Also the being of the Namek saga and the middle of the cell saga was more like a cat and mouse chase game Yeah, that part of Namek was my favourite part of the anime.

Don't remember what happend in the Cell Saga, honestly. Yeah, "fuuull" of filler. But my othe point still stands BBCode. Conceptualhero Online Joined: Dec Posts: That was not the purpose of the anime, and it was never made to compete against "intellectually deep and complex anime series". It does its job well enough. BBCode I like dub more than sub because I am not a weeb. This is exact my relationship with Dragon Ball.

The show is far from perfect however, I have never stopped enjoying and loving Dragon Ball as a series. I will always hold the series close to my heart and never stop enjoying no matter what people say about it.

That's also one of the reasons why I thought Kai was just not good, aside from the newly animated scenes pasted inbetween the old animation just took me out of the remake BBCode. I used the Pokemon argument because that was another anime that had a simple plot like DBZ but has managed to stand through the test of time. Anime is still ongoing Sure you can compare any genre you want, but I guess to me, it would be similar to comparing Spongebob to more complex shows.

Thankfully if you're not watching the original anime airing of the series all of them are paced perfectly and the choreography is great. This is another thing we hated that the original manga is completely innocent of but the original anime is very guilty of. Remember how we were complaining about the horrible pacing and stretching out of fights to span multiple episodes? Well, that makes the experience so much of a drag that it needs its own point.

With a show that is partly about the epic battles, it's supposed to lead up to you'd expect those epic battles to be worth the build-up. Sadly the horrid pacing the anime was plagued with ended up cheapening these fights, making them a lot less exciting to get to. We honestly can't imagine anyone hating the characters in Dragon Ball Z unless they're literally written to be hated and even then it's hard to hate them.

Each character has their own charms, strengths, and weaknesses and at least once throughout the series, they all get a chance to show what they're made of. Dragon Ball has always been one of those series that lives and dies by the characters it introduces to us so it's no surprise that Dragon Ball Z continues that trend by giving us back our old favorites and new faces as well.

While Dragon Ball Z has the strength of giving us tons of characters to fall in love with and look forward to seeing, it also has the weakness of taking those characters away from us just as fast. Take a look at Yamcha, Tenshinhan, Krillin, and other characters of this caliber back in the Dragon Ball days and then compare it to these characters' appearances in Dragon Ball Z.

Much different right? Like we said, each of these characters gets the spotlight every now and then throughout the series but sadly besides these moments they aren't given as much light as the stronger characters. One common misconception that is always heard when Dragon Ball Z is the topic is that the characters don't change or grow unless their names are Piccolo or Vegeta.

User Info: Savage DBZ's popular. It's easy to bash things that are popular. They may have gone into watching the show with their expectations too high because DBZ's so popular and ubiquitous among anime communities. The anime they watch is perceived by them as "better," but those shows aren't nearly as popular, so they have to vocally emphasize whatever faults they've found in DBZ.

They're trying to speak over the praise for it, basically. User Info: UraRenge Strictly speaking about males , its because unlike most anime, Dragon Ball is not a Harem Show.

Every "hardcore" Anime fan I know has this obsession with 1 Male lead and 7 female love interests. If you talk about shows like Bleach and Naruto, those same fans have serious issues with pairing characters. In other words
